My name is Nick and I’m from England. I have lived all over the world and currently live in Bali, Indonesia. In the UK, I worked at Scotland Yard, the police headquarters, in the criminal records department. I was responsible for communicating with police officers all over the country at police stations, courtrooms, airports, and seaports. I studied multimedia in college and helped to start a well-known travel website in 1998. My responsibilities were travel guide writing and managing the online community. In 2002 I moved to Bali Indonesia to start an online guide to the island of Bali, which I continued to do for 5 years before selling my part of the business. I have been teaching English for 4 years and am TEFL certified. I really enjoy talking with students from around the world and supporting them in their effort to speak English. At my last teaching job, my responsibilities were teaching group classes of adults from around the world as well as individual students. I consistently beat the center and company averages for student feedback. The month before I left I received a teaching award from the company. I try to be friendly and easygoing. I like to make my students feel comfortable and relaxed and help them toward their goals. As a native English speaker, I can understand that some students feel slightly nervous when speaking and try to convince them that it’s okay to make mistakes...that just shows you are pushing yourself! I can help students with their conversational skills, grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary as well as encouraging them to try new ways to say things. My hobbies include camping, exercising and playing my djembe drum. I also have an interest in computer programming. It’s my hope to be talking with you very soon.
